Communication
“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives” ~ Anthony Robbins

“Communication is the imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium”.

In this day in age, there is an overwhelming source of communication technologies that we have in our possession. Both the recipient and the donor of the information are in a two-way exchange. The quality of exchange determines the quality of information imparted.

God has asked of his people to communicate effectively with each other and with the nations around. God has determined that the culture He desires is one that will illustrate the quality of His peoples’ citizenship. The surrounding nations will be curious to what makes His people peculiar and seek to understand our Authority, Laws and Government.
1 Peter 2:9, Isaiah 2:1-5, 1 Corinthian 15:33.

There are many articles and publications that describe what communication skills are so I will not attempt to replicate such information. This article is to help enhance and envision a rich picture of the salient features that delineate what culture is.

Culture is defined by the standards that we keep and the values we uphold. What does this communicate already? The great commission as it is called in this age is readily understood as a command by God to go out into the world and preach the gospel. This has been in interpreted in many different forms: from missionaries; to televangelists; to men and women on the street corners shouting from microphones; to debates over religious and secular issues. Each modality used defines the method of communication that will be primarily used.

However a rich and meaningful culture expressed by a true understanding of one’s own authority, law, government and citizenship will not be limited to one mode of communication. A citizen understands that the most powerful method of communication is ones behaviour represented by the standards and values kept.

In this day with an amalgamation of cultures, values and standards, there seems to be no pure culture around. From the days of the bible with the Nation of Israel being submerged under every successive colonial nation; by the time Jesus arrives on the map, the state of Israel’s culture is derelict. However, God foresees a time when His people express an unadulterated culture with unparalleled modes of communication that disseminate the Kingdom message with such clarity that the world is witness to His glory.
Luke 12-11-12; Matthew 11:12; Titus 2:11

Is there one answer on how to formulate this, well the answer is no. Each Ekklesia has to think about how they communicate all their materials and the message of the Kingdom clearly. Here in the Islington Ecclesia one of our ways of communicating is by writing articles on different topics relating to the five components every quarter. Are we there yet? No, but by the grace of God we shall surely get there.

I hope this short but concise article serves you well, it is not meant to overwhelm with information but to stimulate questions that have no easy answers.
