Is the kingdom of God real to you?

Let us start with defining what is meant by the kingdom. The word kingdom Has two parts to it “King” and “dom”. It means the territory that belongs to a king or we could say the 'king’s domain”.

For us to experience the reality of the kingdom of God, it is wise to start with the scriptures so that our thinking is within its frame.

Colossians 1:15 states “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,”. Our starting point should be that we have been rescued from one dominion which is the kingdom of darkness and have been brought into the kingdom of God'

Let me try and make things clear, Christians have not been brought into the religion of Christianity! Believers have been translated into the kingdom of the Son of God.

Here is the place we should reside continuously, both in private or when we assemble with the saints. When we choose to operate from this starting point, the scripture will begin to open up the riches of the King and his kingdom.

When we start to see Jesus the Christ as the King and not the head of a religion, his will becomes law, his ekklesia (the called out) will take its place as the government. The saints in many denominations will begin to see each other as fellow citizens, and from there we start to express the culture of the kingdom.

The problem many people face is making the transition from religiosity and the status quo to the kingdom. In short, we rather trust in our religious history, and the heritage passed down to us without real investigation of the origin of our traditions. So we then neglect the truths of scripture for the sake of the teachings and customs of our churches.

Helen Keller said, 'The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision'.

Many of God's people have eyes, but they refuse to see and worst of all we have sight but have no vision of the kingdom of God.

Lack of vision has created a counterfeit picture of the reality Jesus wanted to establish in the earth. The manifestation of His reality is not a religious institution but the coming of his kingdom which is in keeping with how he taught us to pray “let your kingdom come”.

What Christianity has established lacks the authority of Christ’s kingship and the manifestation of his kingdom. Instead of manifesting the kingdom we have been building different ministries embedded in denominational ideologies. Christianity is like a kingdom divided against itself which cannot stand.

I started to have a vision for the kingdom of God by reading the scriptures which ultimate illuminated my heart and unveiled to me my ignorance of where I have been rescued from and most importantly being brought into the kingdom of God.

When I think of what is real, I think of what I see, hear, touch, smell and taste. This I believe is similar with how the scriptures define real but with a stark difference. God’s people do not start with the five natural senses to help us prove what is real or what is unreal. We always start with our spiritual senses and faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith makes what is initially unreal to our five senses eventually real to them.

Faith believes the scriptures and all that it says about the king and the kingdom; it is learning to behold the reality of the kingdom of God. In other words Faith accounts that the kingdom is real and help us bring it into the realm of our spiritual and natural senses.

Believers always start from a faith which “...results from listening, and listening results through the word of the Messiah”. It is through the words of the King which is His laws that we begin to see the reality of the kingdom and start to renew our religious minds. The kingdom of God has hidden treasures that can only be open to us when calling on the name of the Lord. So Let us start to call on Him from a place of humility and acknowledgement of our ignorance. He will tell and show us great and unsearchable things.

Let me leave you with this scripture in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know”. What are these great and unsearchable things? The answer is simple; It is Jesus the Messiah, The Kingdom, The Power and the Glory of it.
