In this presentation, we will focus on the Sixth and Seventh Ecumenical Councils. The Sixth Ecumenical Council, called by St. Constantine the New, addressed the heresy of the Monothelites, condemning their belief in Christ having only one will. The Seventh Ecumenical Council, held in Nicaea, discussed the use of icons and the proper veneration of sacred images. These councils played crucial roles in preserving orthodox Christian doctrine and shaping the Church's understanding of Christ's nature. By examining their decisions, we can gain insights into the theological controversies of their time and the enduring significance of visual representations in our faith.
